Missing lines and odd things please help!

Missing lines and odd things please help!

Missing lines and odd things please help!

(OP)
Morning all,

We have had a problem for a while and always had to dodge views and add lines in, but thought I'd throw it up to see if anyone can help. It tends to be on an isometric view, i've added a picture. Lines just seem to disappear and seem to be seen through other parts. Is there anything I can do other than the dependent edit, and or trimming lines etc?

The view shown is of a round bar going into a WDS ball knob.

Thanks in advance

RE: Missing lines and odd things please help!

Hi,
I have no idea why the silhoutte going insid ethe spherical body is displayed here (i guess keeping the silhouette ON and Hidden line INVISBLE should do.) If you do not mind then can we have a look at the part file also.
Best Regards
Kapil Sharma

RE: Missing lines and odd things please help!

Hi,
It seems both of these part files are the same.

COSMIC! That seems to have done the trick in this instance, nice one! By default our setting is on None, but changin it has done the trick. Thanks! I'll report back if this works on other round objects that also do a disappearing act!

RE: Missing lines and odd things please help!

The default is off since taking care of interference into the Hidden line calculation, will add to the total calculation time.
In some cases, like the example provided, the extra time spent is probably not measurable but in large assemblies it will be.

Tomas

Cheers guys it works with other aspects of disappearing line's! Not sure why its classed as hidden lines when it makes non hidden lines visable? smile

RE: Missing lines and odd things please help!

I uses a different set of tools to compute the visible versus invisible edges.

Traditional Hidden-Line removal code often has problems when edges of a body which normally would be hidden by another body are in fact inside the other body. Therefore we provide the extra option to look for situations like this and when detected, apply some additional tools to try and determine what the model would actually look like if this interference in fact didn't exist. The reason this option is not ON by default is that even if there were NO interfering bodies, the code would still spend time looking at all possible body-body interferences just in case they MIGHT exist and so under normal conditions this would be a waste of time so that's why we provide it as purely an option.
