gravity force applied to a model

gravity force applied to a model

(OP)
Hi all ,

I am quite new to abaqus and am wondering when applying a gravitational force to a falling object in the z direction would the force be -1 , as in -1g, or -9.81? Or because my model is in mm -9810?

Thanks

RE: gravity force applied to a model

Abaqus is unitless which means you could apply a gravitational force of -9.81 however then make sure that all other dimensions are in metres. If you apply a load of -9810 then you're dealing with mm throughout the modelling and analysis stages.

thanks problem solved!
