Can a 2x4 thin wall steel car frame be wrapped in Carbon to stifen/reiforce....

(OP)
I was wondering if a custom built 2x4 light weight/thin wall cold rolled steel (or Chrome Molly steel)car frame be wrapped in carbon (or a mix of composites) to stiffen and provide extra strength?
Effectively I'm asking would it be possible to create a light weight "frame work" and then wrap the frame work/shape to create strength and a stiff platform equal to the metal it would otherwise replace in the size of the wall normally used?
