Converting thread milling cycle to linear output

Converting thread milling cycle to linear output

Converting thread milling cycle to linear output

(OP)
Afternoon Chaos

I notice a few had asked this question and wondered if anybody had come up with an answer yet?

Am conducting ID thread milling trials which need de-tanging and OD thread turning trials which also require de-tanging.

So far I have tried (in NX only) 'detailed' and 'symbolic' thread cycle but can not convert to linear, which our post requires.

Fixed contour, surface area works ok but to de-tang the threads I need to know the exact start/finish point of the thread.

Can anyone throw me any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Ian Ness (The AMRC in Sheffield UK Using NX 7.5)

You can use the Set Modes UDE to set to arc mode to Linear
