Lofted Cut with Guide Curves Failure

Lofted Cut with Guide Curves Failure

Lofted Cut with Guide Curves Failure

(OP)
In the attached Solidworks part, I cannot complete a lofted cut from Sketch12 to Sketch13, using the curved edges of the body as guide curves.

The preview of the cut looks good and the same type of cut worked fine on the first half of the body (up to Plane2), but when I try to cut the remainder I get an error that says,
"Rebuild Errors: Operation Failed due to Geometric Conditions".

How does one troubleshoot these types of errors? Is it apparent to anyone what the problem is?

Thanks.

RE: Lofted Cut with Guide Curves Failure

Sketch13 is parallel to the tangency of the guide curves where they meet the flat end face. That would cause an extreme knife edge/point, which is probably beyond the capability of SW.

Have you tried using a loft to create the faceted part at the first feature ... instead of a revolve & then cut?

Yes, I see what you are talking about now. I will try using a loft instead. Thank-you.
