RE: AISI 4130 INTERACTION WITH UNS 174PH

Your question is too open ended. Compatibility with regard to welding? Tensile strength? Corrosion?

RE: AISI 4130 INTERACTION WITH UNS 174PH

There is no mechanical issues associated with the micro structure of the carbon alloy steel with the stainless. You are more interested with the long term effects of metal-to-metal affinity in a fluid capable of induction. I suggest case hardening the carbon alloy steel by liquid notation in order to remove the free irin from the surface in order to create a skin of passivity, 0.005/0.008 inches thick.

Any implication to micro structure degradation is a display in the lack of understanding of materials as a science, rather than identifying the mechanism responsible for it. I suggest you review galvanic corrosion or other forms of inter granular corrosion rather than structural deficiencies thereof.

Hope this helps, good luck with the application.

Cockroach
