How to show grouting on a P&ID

How to show grouting on a P&ID

How to show grouting on a P&ID

(OP)
Hello all,

This query is fairly non technical so should be simple if anyone has ever had the same issue before.

I'm preparing Rev C P&ID's for a project. Part of the destruct scope will not be done in the normal way of cut and remove because much of the pipework is underground. This underground pipework will be filled with grout.

I am unsure how to show the grouting work on the destruct P&Id's?

Also, how will the, now redundant, grouted lines show in the construct P&ID? I don't think I should take them off altogether because his may take them off the radar for future ground work in the area which is a hazard. At the same time leaving them on the P&ID will leave it very congested.

Any help much appreciated.

RE: How to show grouting on a P&ID

I would not show grouting on a P&ID. At most, I'd put a note at the ends of the pipes on the project P&IDs, and then remove them from the permanent P&IDs when complete. Isn't there another scope document where this could go too, such as a "Description of the Work"?

Good luck,
Latexman

I agree with Latexman. I have never noticed grouting being called out on a P&ID before.

Thanks for the replies.

Something must show on the project P&ID's as these are live lines coming out of service. The question lies with the master update. I would only be comfortable taking them off the P&ID if they were captured alsewhere such as in civils drawings, reason being that if any excavation is done on the site the last thing anyone needs is to hit hard grouted pipe when digging!

PR.

They should remain on the UG drawings until permanently removed. That's where the "filled with grout" note needs to go.

Good luck,

OOS out of service should be placed on the drawing. With another note saying grout filled. That way If someone sees the line visually or on 3D drawings and go to p&ids they'll understand the situation.better

RE: How to show grouting on a P&ID

i am with Latexman on this. these should not be in the permanent P&ID's. they belong in underground civil drawings.

no one is going to be looking at P&ID's prior to digging in the future. they should be looking at the underground drawings. P&ID's don't show the "physical location" anyways.
