Is Hammer unions acceptable in ASME B31.3?

Is Hammer unions acceptable in ASME B31.3?

Is Hammer unions acceptable in ASME B31.3?

(OP)
I know this question was raised few years back by one of the members, but have not been able to find any response from Forum members. I'd like to raise it again to the forum as we are facing similar issues with hammer unions being used in our well flow line design. This is following on from old practices as some of our historical piping specification allowed it. There are few issues with hammer unions, so would like to confirm whether its use is allowed by code or not. Same goes for barrel unions and Chiksan on the flow lines. I consider these items are designed for drilling rigs and follows API standards.

Thanks
