How to change the vessel nameplate

How to change the vessel nameplate

How to change the vessel nameplate

(OP)
Hi all,

Just got a question as below from our construction site regarding changing the name plate. Does anyone know how this shall be done ? Thanks.

" Existing item # D-001 is required to replace the existing nameplate by new one showing new tag# "D-300" and change service to "LPG AMINE CONTACTOR", and the design conditions no change. The current name plate is ASME stamped. This job is to be done by a sub contractor that is asking us about the right procedure to change the nameplate, please could you help us to give us this procedure? "

RE: How to change the vessel nameplate

jtseng123;
Does the vessel have a National Board number stamped on the nameplate? If so, the best way to approach this is to follow the NBIC requirements for nameplate replacement.

If there is no NB number stamped, you should not alter the original nameplate if it bears an ASME Code symbol stamp. The ASME Code symbol stamp is affixed at the time the vessel is completed by an AI. You can add another nameplate that is for vessel identification purposes with no change in design.

RE: How to change the vessel nameplate

you are doing an alteration that requires: recalculation to the service change if needed, reagarding NDE and efficiencys. check if LPG change to is a lethal or not.
I havn't made an LPG tank that's why you ahve to check yourself if the service is similar. you may get away with it.
