Reuse Library - 2D Section Library

Reuse Library - 2D Section Library

Reuse Library - 2D Section Library

(OP)
Greetings,

I am learning the 2D Reuse Library and I'm having some troubles with adding 2D sections. Is it possible to add the 2D section when in sketch-environment, or do I have to add it at part level?

Anything you all can send me would be greatly appreciated!

Best Regards,

A

RE: Reuse Library - 2D Section Library

I think you will find that many of them are sketches themselves and you cannot have a 'sketch' as part of another sketch. Therefore, they're intended to be added to a Part file as parametric features onto themeselves.

John,

Thank you for your quick response.

Would it be possible to create 2D sections out of curves instead of sketches and would those be able to be dropped into a sketch?

Best regards,

A

RE: Reuse Library - 2D Section Library

Are we talking about the simple profiles in the '2D Section' library or the Law Curves from the 'Reusable Object Library'?

If it's the '2D Section' library, just add the section to your drawing and edit it. You'll find that it's simply a sketch which you can add to it anything that you want.

However, if you've already created your own sketch you still have a couple of options available to you.

First, there's nothing stopping you from adding one of the '2D Sections' to your model and as long as it's before your own sketch in the Part Navigator feature list and on the same or a parallel plane to your sketch, you can simply project the curves into your sketch. Of course, the sketch would have no control over the shape of those curves, but at least they could be part of your sketch profile.

Or you could simply open the '2D Section' sketch. 'Copy' the curves and constraints of interest and then 'Paste' them into your sketch.
