Render Sets Drafting NX 7.5

Render Sets Drafting NX 7.5

Render Sets Drafting NX 7.5

Okay, so I have read some other posts about Render Sets and I haven't see then answer to this question. When I do a render set to change the linetype to phantom of a solid, it shows every line even if they are hidden lines. I have hidden lines turned to invisible and they still show up. I have attached a picture of what is happening. If I set the solid body in modeling to have a phantom linetype it is correct but I don't want the phantom linetype in all of the other views in my drawing. When using render sets the outcome is not desirable, it actually is worse because it clutters up the view too much.

RE: Render Sets Drafting NX 7.5

The only solution that I can think of is that you will need to manually, using...

Edit -> View -> View Dependent Edit...

...and using the 'Edit Object Segments', remove (set them to be 'Invisible') those segements of the edges of the base Component which need to be 'hidden'.

So, what exactly are render sets used for when it it brings every line on the object to the front. I would expect it to behave like a normal view and simply change the line type of the visible lines...? I must be missing something.

RE: Render Sets Drafting NX 7.5

Your attempted use of 'Render Sets' is almost the opposite of what it was intended for, which was that different components in an assembly could have different display options applied to them, INDEPENDENT of the display options of the overall view, such as showing SOME of the internal parts of a complex assembly such as in this example:

So, GTAC informed me that there is a way to do this easily.

You use Render Sets still, and you need to create two render sets. The Render Set 1 should include all solids with a phantom line line font, Render Set 2 should include only the solids that you want as solid lines. When you apply the render sets to the view make sure that render set 1 is added first then render set 2. This solved the problem.

Thanks for the quick responses.

RE: Render Sets Drafting NX 7.5

Yea, I was thinking about that approach after I created my example above, but got waylaid and never got around to trying to testing it. Glad you found a solution.
