Motor Mounting Standards for Conveyor Application

Motor Mounting Standards for Conveyor Application

Motor Mounting Standards for Conveyor Application

(OP)
I have to choose a motor for a conveyor, but I cannot make the choice until I have measured torques with the conveyor belt fully loaded. So I have to get the conveyor in house first.

1) Is there some NEMA or IEC standard that defines how the motor/gear is coupled to the conveyor ?

2) Has anyone measured torques like this? Did you use a torque wrench or a motor with a torque versus current curve. Someone told me the torque is equal to max torque of motor multiplied by (measured RMS current/FLA rating)

I want to tell the conveyor fabricator to use this NEMA or IEC transmission standard so I can choose from a range of motors after the required torque has been measured.
