Lifting Hook Manufacturers
Lifting Hook Manufacturers
(OP)
We are in the process of inspecting lifting devices (visual and NDT) for a client. We are trying to identify some of the hooks in order to determine if the hook has the minimum identifying information on them.
Is there anyone here familiar with hook ID and manufacturers?
For example, we have (5) hooks attached to Shaw-Box bridge cranes which all have similar ID on them. In general they have the letter "M" inside a circle and plus some have additional combinations of letters and numbers... typically 2-3 digits long cast or forged into them. These hooks are in general 5-15 ton. I have tried to contact Shaw-Box with no luck, they indicate that they use many manufacturers of hooks on their hoists and that they do not manufacturer hooks.
Does this letter "M" ring any bells as far as a manufacturer?
Thank you,
Gabriel Molina, PE

RE: Lifting Hook Manufacturers
I was thinking of suggesting RedHook as a good lifting hook, but decided not to mention it.
Have a good day...

One other letter we are running into is "Y" and it appears to be a manufacturer's mark. They have all been on Yale hoists (CM company) and again they are not much help. Yale does not manufacturer hooks... any ideas?
Thanks again,
