Moment-Rotation Curves

Moment-Rotation Curves

Moment-Rotation Curves

(OP)
Hello,

I am a new to using Abaqus Cae. I have built a steel moment connection consisting of a beam welded to a column. I have applied a displacement to the end of the beam. The model runs successfully. I need to produce a graph of applied moment against rotation and cannot work out how to do this? Any help would be much appreciated.

RE: Moment-Rotation Curves

I don't think Abaqus will do it automatically.

You need to get a free body cut at where you want the moment and sum the forces on those nodes to get a moment.

For rotation, kind of depends on what you define your "plastic hinge zone" as. If that is how you're idealizing it.
Rotation is then only across this plastic hinge zone.

I'm assuming you used brick elements?
