Calculation of expanded tube and tubesheet joint according to ASME VIII div 1 Appendix A

Hi everybody!

I have a task to calculate expanded tube and tubesheet joint. In ASME VII div 1 App A there is calculation for maximal axial loading in which there is Po and Pt as interface pressures for which is stated that they can be obtained analytically or experimentally. I havent been able to found method for this calculation.
Also which criteria should I use when defining will there be one, two or more grooves and defining their dimensions? I found that main criteria is reduction of wall thickness which varies from material to material.

Dragan12,

Refer TEMA standard for grooves in the tubesheet for tube-tubesheet joints. In Section-5, depending on TEMA class (R, C & B), the grooving details are mentioned.

rakuday ,

thank for information. It turned out that on my existing tubesheet expanded joints can't be applied due to tubesheet thickness. Once again thank you for the post.
