In Plane Displacement Results for Plates/Shells Subject to Normal Force

(OP)
I'm trying to estimate the lateral / in plane displacement for a problem that amounts to a plate subject to normal pressure.

Research and trial so far makes me think this data can't be obtained from plate elements - in plane displacements always show zero. Trying other formulations but so far no luck.

What element formulations or options will give me results including in plane displacements? Are any of these compatible with laminate properties?
