Relay Target/Operation Logging Form

Relay Target/Operation Logging Form

Relay Target/Operation Logging Form

(OP)
Does anyone have a form for logging relay targets at a substation? I am thinking of a sheet or card that would be placed near the relay panels that the substation operator can fill out to record any targets/messages before resetting them. I know newer electronic relays will also log this data, but want to use the cards to help the process of acknowledging an event before clearing targets. Some info that I see on the form - device name, active targets, fault amps (if available), date, time, operator name.

Thanks
Andy

RE: Relay Target/Operation Logging Form

We use an excel file that the operators fill in and then email in before resetting things. I don't see any value in a paper form that gets left at the substation.

RE: Relay Target/Operation Logging Form

At my previous utility, we had a stylised drawing of the each panel so that the operators could easily mark off the flags that had been set without any confusion. Paper copies were used, so that they could be stored right at the panel for convenient access.

But if somebody has to go there to see what happened, how is that convenient? Seems to me that having the operator email the form (or even fill it out on-line) makes it far more useful.

I am attaching a copy of what I have come up with.

We are using this as a way of formalizing how an operator at the substation initially responds to relay operation/targets. The goal is to have accurate info that will then be passed on to the responding field tech/engineer before anything is cleared or just relying on memory. It is also to have each event recorded and then cleared as we have seen issues where old targets get confused with newer targets. Once the next level of personnel investigates the event the actual electronic relay records/logs will be downloaded.

Thanks for others input.
Andy
