Internal Error when creating a detailed section from a section view

Internal Error when creating a detailed section from a section view

Internal Error when creating a detailed section from a section view

(OP)
I have an assembly drawing, in which I created a view, a section view from the view and now I wanted to show a detailed view enlarging one end of the section for better clarification.

I have done this several times in the past, but this time I receive an internal error and it will not allow me to create the detailed view.
The assembly is not very large, and I tried on several computers.

Any suggestions on why this is occuring?

Thanks!

Sorry, forgot to mention that I am using NX 7.5

RE: Internal Error when creating a detailed section from a section view

I'd start by running examine geometry on the 3D models; they must pass all the body checks and face self-intersection check (ideally they will pass all the face checks, but self-intersection is a must).

Thanks for the information. Tried it this morning, but I could not create a detailed view from a section view.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

What did "examine geometry" report?

It reported the following:

RE: Internal Error when creating a detailed section from a section view

Hi designerabc,
Although it will be very difficult commenting on this post without looking at the assembly and it's drawing also but Cowski made a very good point.Infact i acknowledged the same some months back in my case where two components (which were being sectioned in the assembly drawing) were imported from another CAD software and unluckily had some overlapping faces and distorted geometry (so try running the examine geometry on some individual components also) .We got rid of the same internal error issue after rectifying the problematic geometry. So if possible try running the check on individual parts also.(You can try taking a detailed view from some other location also as a check)
If the parts are clean and no issues then you might consider running a PART CLEANUP also.
Best Regards

Thanks... If I create a detail view from any other view, it works fine.
I will run it on the components, some where brought in as step files

Thanks for the help
