Hi

How do you support small bore SS pipe on platform with grating? I think T-post is a good choice which should weld to a beam under the grating. Do you agree with me?

RE: Pipe support

Why seek affirmation from strangers?

Are you proposing something that's not in the company standards?

I wanna know other's experiences.

RE: Pipe support

It might be also a good idea to avoid the contact between your SS line and CS support.

RE: Pipe support

I've done one major project that was heaaded offshore.
The customer was adamant that we use the "I-Rod" brand of pipe hangers.
They are deceptively simple, but should pretty much prevent crevice corrosion, which was of great concern to that particular customer.

Your company may also have a preferred brand/type/style of hangers, and that preference may or may not be written down anywhere. So ask the old-timers there.

I should weld a SS plate on T-post and rest the pipe on it.

RE: Pipe support

The I-Rod people would assert that the line contact between your pipe and your SS plate will encourage crevice corrosion, resulting in eventual failure of the pipe. So what you are proposing is just one step up from using a CS plate support, which would also encourage galvanic corrosion. The I-Rod system galvanically isolates the plate from the pipe, so you could use CS plate and maybe save a little money there.

I don't know exactly what you mean by a T-post.
Could you supply a drawing of your proposed assembly?
Please also show the grating; your description does not make its role clear.

RE: Pipe support

Wow. Nice stiffener plates.

Independent events are seldomly independent.
