Riks analysis using Eigenvalues

Riks analysis using Eigenvalues

Riks analysis using Eigenvalues

(OP)
I am having some trouble with a Riks analysis,

I have gone back to basics to try and get the correct results and have modelled a simple circular bar with 10 elements along its length.
I have found from Eigenvalue buckling an initial mode at 23.479kN after applying a 1N load to the top and applying the necessary boundary conditions.
However when I try and verify this using a Riks analysis, the only thing I change is the type of analysis in the step. The bar does not buckle and will only axially compress.
I have tried a number of different loadings, my understanding is that I can simply apply a load and a limiting LPF. The bar manages to completely invert about its base fixed support but still does not buckle.

Thanks in advance for any support
