Installation Of Distribution Transformer

Installation Of Distribution Transformer

Installation Of Distribution Transformer

(OP)
This query is regarding the installation of 11kv/415 v transformer..

1.When I connect a distibution transformer to the supply, the transformer is essentially getting paralled with other transformers in the grid, right?
2.Also what are the precautions I need to take while connecting a new transformer to grid..?

Awaiting all your valuable responses,

Regards,

Alan

RE: Installation Of Distribution Transformer

Avoid arc flashes, shocks, burns, property damage, injury and/or death. Every utility has procedures developed and followed to ensure the safe installation of distribution transformers. Many utilities will have procedures to safely install or change out most distribution transformers without de-energizing the primary circuit. The work crews are trained and are supplied with the proper tools for live line work.
Some utilities including the small utility where I spent some years do not do hot work other than opening and closing fused cutouts. We would de-energize a circuit while installing or changing distribution transformers.
