Difference between ASTM B308 and ASTM 221

(OP)
I have a material cert that certifies the material to ASTM B221/95, ASTM-B221/96, AMS-QQ-A-200/8/, AND QQ-A-200/8/F. I need this angle bar to be manufacture to ASTM B308. I know that for ASTM B308 the profiles are limited to I-beams, H-beams, channels, angles, tees and zees.
For ASTM B221 is extruded bars, rods, wire, profiles and tubes. does complies to the ASTM B308?

RE: Difference between ASTM B308 and ASTM 221

It looks like dual certification is possible for this grade of aluminum. I have the ASME SB material specifications and it appears that ASTM/ASME B/SB 308 is specific to extruded Aluminum Alloy 6061 T6. Also, ASTM/ASME B/SB 221 is referenced in ASTM/ASME B/SB 308. Read both specifications carefully, and make sure all requirements are met for dual certification.

RE: Difference between ASTM B308 and ASTM 221

The answer is no. B308 is specific to 6061-T6 extruded shapes, while B221 is appicable to a broad range of aluminum alloys and tempers (including 6061-T6). However, even if you had 6061-T6 certified to B221, you still will not necessarily meet requirements of B308, which require both higher elongation below 0.250" wall thickness and also requires hardness not specified in B221. So, stay away unless, as metengr suggests, the material is dual-certified to B308.
