Anything that does the same function as local scale?

Anything that does the same function as local scale?

Anything that does the same function as local scale?

(OP)
We have a customer that requires a variable shrink rate on the plastic parts for mold design. Different areas require different shrinks. We have done this a couple of ways. One is using a general scale and then using offsets and moves afterwards to get the proper numbers. The problem with that is if a job is cloned or part changed those offsets and moves can become disassociated. Personally I like using the local scale feature which leads me to my question.
With the local scale now buried within NX, leading me to believe it may be removed at some point,is there another option that would acomplish the same thing? We are running NX8.

What version of NX are you on ?

Have you looked at 'Offset Region', one the tools on the Synchronous Modeling palette. It can be found at...

Insert -> Synchronous Modeling -> Offset Region...

I have thought about using offset region but not sure if it would work the same way. As an example a diameter with a post on it are two different shrinks. The diameters have a scale of .020 in X and Y but a .023 in Z. The post would be .020 in X and Y but .030 in Z. The local scale works perfectly for this. I'm not really sure offset region would work that way.

You may have to do it in a more 'piece-wise' manner but you could get very close to what you needed.

That being said, there's no real reason to stop using the old 'Local Scale' function (I just checked NX 8.5.1.3 and it's available, albeit still hidden) until it does completely disappear by which time perhaps something more modern and closer to what you're looking for might be implemented.
