Pressure test on API Diesel TKs

Pressure test on API Diesel TKs

(OP)
Dear Peers,
I did not find anything about carry out "1 psi pressure test" on diesel TKs designed as per API 650, as a normal practice for in service inspection.
Any input about it will be appreciated.

RE: Pressure test on API Diesel TKs

If the tank is designed for the pressure, the procedure for the pressure test is outlined in F.7 of API 650.

Normal inspection intervals and procedures for both in service and out of service are outlined in API 653.

RE: Pressure test on API Diesel TKs

API-650 tanks may optionally be designed for internal pressures, but it is not a requirement, and it should not be assumed that a tank is adequate for a given pressure without some basis. Generally, diesel tanks are atmospheric.
API-12F and API-12D tanks are rated for varying pressures depending on the size.
I am not aware of a requirement to pressure-test in-service tanks. Refer to API-653 for typical inspection procedures.
