Need Sizes
Need Sizes
(OP)
Hi,
Working on a product I have for swimming pools and finalising. My product attaches to end of swimming pool poles. In Australia, pool pole (32mm OD) fits inside the product fitting. I am not sure how it fits US swimming pool poles. Can somebody assist and give me ID and OD of US swimming pool extension poles and how do products attach. Does fitting fit inside pole or does it slide over outside of pole. And how secured. I have a suspision that US and Australia are different and would have to look at accomadating this. If somebody can help it would be appreciated. If you have photo, please post.
Thanks for your help

RE: Need Sizes
Do they fit over the pole as shown if so what is OD of pole. If not do they fit inside the pole and if so what is ID of pole or OD of product fitting? If various sizes, what is the preferred or most common size
Thanks
RE: Need Sizes
If memory serves they were both ball detente type attachments.

RE: Need Sizes
As outlined in Australia our poles fit inside the fittings whereas in USA they fit outside the fittings. What I have deduced - US Telescopic poles 1 3/4" OD and 1 1/2" ID. Product fittings 1 1/2" OD and 1 1/4" ID. Australian Telescopic poles 1 1/4" OD and whatever thickness from here ID as it does not matter. If keeping with the above logic, Australian poles would be 1" ID.
This explains why I have seen different sizes of product fittings which baffled me. In US you have both sizes of telescopic poles.
Telescopic poles with 1 3/4" OD have no butterfly spring but the attachments each require one and explains why these products are sold with a spring whereas telescopic poles with 1 1/4" OD require just the one butterfly spring and explains why these are sold with the spring on the pole and none on the attachments.
I hope other product developers came up with the same solution although your post Kenat now worries me as by my reasoning the skimmer should have fitted inside or outside your pole, just a matter of removing the butterfly spring off one and putting it on the other.
I would appreciate if anybody could confirm this.
Thanks

I'll be generous - I'll even throw in one (or two) consultations down under so he can avoid those looooong airplane trips.
