Associative placement of a drawing note

Associative placement of a drawing note

Associative placement of a drawing note

(OP)
Hi folks,

I have a drawing note which I need placing associatively in space in X and Y relative to a view symbol. I can find how to do either associatively in X or associatively in Y but not in both. Hence if I then drag the label in both X and Y, the note only moves in one axis.

How do you do it? ...I'm sure this is going to be simple but it beating me right now.

Many thanks

Dave

RE: Associative placement of a drawing note

Try
Edit -> Annotation -> Orgin -> X-Y (lower left icon)
Follow instructions in dialog box

Edit -> Annotation -> Origin...
This will allow you to associate your note to another object. Pick the XY offset option and make sure you turn on associativity. In the dialog there are X and Y "scale factors", I think "offsets" would be a more accurate description. Enter the distance to offset in the X and Y directions.

Oooh ok, thanks - I knew it was going to be simple. I guess I have to position the note explicitily using the X and Y Scale Factors rather than just drag the note into the position where I want it, but what's being scaled when I adjust those?

Ah-ha, I've just worked out why I've not managed to make it work previously - Tabular Notes cannot be selected as alignment objects! Now I know that I can forge ahead.

Sorry for the basic questions. I've not long returned to using NX. I last used it in anger with NX3 in 2004 so as you can see I'm a little rusty ...I was pretty good back in the day though!

RE: Associative placement of a drawing note

Well, actually you may be able to select the origin corner of the tabulated note as the alignment object.

RE: Associative placement of a drawing note

You cannot select the table as the alignment object but the table can be the object being reposition and therefore aligned to a diifernt oject, it may be backwards to what you want but you may get the result that you are looking for.
