changing axis systems

(OP)
Hi all,

Been looking at the centre of gravity on a fixture I am designing. Now I can only do it via the measure bodies feature as we don't have a license to do it with the advanced bit. Can't remember off the top of my head what its called properly. My question is if you do a measure bodies on an assembly and the pick create axis system it puts like a dump system in, which you can't really do much with. Is there any way to change this to a pukka axis system so I can measure from the planes etc?

Cheers in advance

RE: changing axis systems

I'm not sure what pukka is, Google was pointing me toward several "herbal" sites which I hesitate to click on here at work...

Anyway, you can create a datum csys on top of the coordinate system object that the measure body command generates. Insert -> Datum/Point -> Datum Csys and change the reference to "selected csys". Select the coordinate system and a datum csys will be created on top of it, giving you datum planes and axes that you can use.

Really? I tried them today and didn't seem to work.

Well thanks I'll give it another go.

Cheers

RE: changing axis systems

Is this an associative body measurement ?
If so then check where new datum Csys is relative to the body measurement in the model tree.
