Constraints list
Constraints list
(OP)
I'm a new NX user and something seems very strange for me.
Why constraints in the list change places all the time? Is it possible to keep them in the same position. Usually, I would like to have the first constraints at the beginning of the list and the last consraints at the end of the list.
Hope that NX can manage this correctly.
Thanks in advance.

Loris

RE: Constraints list
What NX version are you using? Could you please provide an image of what you are exactly looking for.

I am not sure which version of NX you are running but you can effectively use CONSTRAINT NAVIGATOR (image attached).

RE: Constraints list
I had my assembly with the constraints list in a certain order. Then I closed my assembly. Then I have reopen it again, and the constraints list is different. The first constraint in my list is not the same as before.
I have the same issue with the parts in the assembly. The position of each part in the list is not fix. The parts are always in a different place in the list. From my point of view this is not acceptable.
Micky, I know this possibility but it's not what I want.
I hope that with the picture, you will clearly understand what i mean...

Ps: I hope the pictures are attached. It's my first Post in this Forum... so sorry in advance if i made a mistake.

RE: Constraints list
Have you used any SORTING in the assembly navigator (based on component name\part name\description etc.)?

RE: Constraints list
That being said, I think you will find that one of the reasons that there does not appear to be a fixed 'order' to constraints is that unlike the old Mating Conditions (available prior to NX 7.5) Assembly Constraints are solved simultaneously, that is they are NOT solved in the order in which they were created, which is how Mating Conditions were solved. Therefore, no attempt is made to either 'sort' them or to even retain any specific order since it has no relevance.
Now it is true, that starting with NX 8.0, since Assembly Constraints can now be managed using their own 'navigator', you do have the option, like in the other navigators, to force a lexical sort of the listing by selecting the header of a navigator column. This will temporarily sort the list in either ascending or descending order by name or value of the columns field. But this will not be remembered nor will it change any constraint behavior, it merely changes to order of the list.

And do you confirm... It is same "issue" for the part list navigator? It is not possible to have the same order in the part list in an assembly?
Thanks in advance!
