Butted Tubes

(OP)
I am in the midst of a project trying to optimise the design of a bicycle frame, and to do so most accurately I need to model butted tubes in my FEA. Does anyone know of a method of doing so on Abaqus?

I have considered partitioning each tube and applying profiles of different thicknesses to each section but this would result in immediate changes of wall thickness, rather than the gradual change seen in real tubes.

Any help offered will be greatly appreciated!
