Connecting line to surface bodies in design modeler

Connecting line to surface bodies in design modeler

(OP)
Hi,

I have a simple cylindrical column which I have modeled as a surface body. Protruding normal out of this column I have a line body which represents a beam. I can't for the life of me work out how to join the two bodies so they will be reconised as connected when the model is meshed up. 'Joint' doesn't work for me and I have tried pretty much everything else I can think of. Help please!

RE: Connecting line to surface bodies in design modeler

Hello,

I think you will need some APDL code to define line to surface or point to surface contact between beam an cylinder.

Regards
Alex

RE: Connecting line to surface bodies in design modeler

Hi,

It's a bit tricky but possible in DesignModeler. Which version of ANSYS are you using ??
Can you attach here the model you made so far?

Best Regards,
Bob
