Need to manualy change percent complete

Need to manualy change percent complete

Need to manualy change percent complete

(OP)
Hello,

I need to manualy change percent complete, and be able to change a proposed finish date without changing the percent complete.  Make sense?  :).  What columns should I use for the finish date?  I'm new to project but I can't find any info on this.  When you change the finish date, the percent complete changes, and I need it to remain constant.

Thanks,

Joe

RE: Need to manualy change percent complete

The way it's supposed to work is that you put in the estimates for the amount of work to be accomplished in the "Work" column and the dates determine the period of activity.  Then, as you update your schedule, you put the actual, or earned value, in the "Actual Work" column and the percent complete takes care of itself.

You should be able to simply manually enter the percent complete directly in the that column and the dates should stay put.

RE: Need to manualy change percent complete

Do it in this order: Change duration of activity so it ends on the date you are aiming. Then change the advance percentage.

But careful. If the advance percentage is lower than the one you should have accomplished by status date, then when you do the "schedule update" command, the activity will be reprogrammed and "finish date" will move forward.
