Perpendicular Dimensions, Intersection Symbols & curve approximation.

Perpendicular Dimensions, Intersection Symbols & curve approximation.

Perpendicular Dimensions, Intersection Symbols & curve approximation.

(OP)
Hello.

Here is a frustrating scenario.
  • NX 7.5 in Drafting
  • A view is added onto a sheet.
  • A number of Perpendicular Dimensions and Intersection Symbols are required.
  • First pick required for this type of dimension is Linear Edge but the selected features are compound curves thus this operation can not be completed.
  • Work around is to go into View Depended Edit and Simplify Curve. This approximates the compound curves to a series of short lines.
  • After leaving the View Depended Edit, now the required Intersection Symbols and Perpendicular Dimensions can be placed via the approximated curves.
  • Here is where it gets a bit flaky.
  • After any minor update to the model that is not even remotely related to the edges where the curve approximations were created these dimensions and intersection symbols loose association.
  • To add insult to injury the Intersection Symbols can not be re-associated after they loose the association which means that I have to delete them, then re-apply and reattach the dims.
Here are the example showing the dismenioned view and one with lost association.

What am I missing here???
