Zero volume errors with General contact

Zero volume errors with General contact

(OP)
Hi,

I am running a bend loading scenario where two parts are tied together are some locations using MPCs. When I assign a contact pair, the analysis goes through and I get a converged solution. But as soon as I assign general contact instead of contact pairs, some of the nodes (which are not in the vicinity of the MPCs) are adjusted automatically by the solver. This is causing the elements to distort and I am getting zero volume error. The elements that I am using are C3D10M elements. When i change the elements to C3D4, the analysis once again goes through successfully. Can someone help me on this?

Thanks,
Raghu
