Preference Selection "Highlight Original" in NX8.5

Preference Selection "Highlight Original" in NX8.5

Preference Selection "Highlight Original" in NX8.5

(OP)
If we don't like this visualisation when flying over feature, I found that it's possible to disable it in Preferences Selection. And this setting remain for the next session.

But is there a seting in customer defaults ?

RE: Preference Selection "Highlight Original" in NX8.5

No, Since this is a Preference that remains from session to session there is no Customer Default for it.... at least not that I found.

RE: Preference Selection "Highlight Original" in NX8.5

Yes, there is NO Customer Default. We just let Dialog Memory take care of it for you. You turn it OFF, it will stay OFF, FOR YOU AND ONLY YOU, until you decide the turn it back ON.

Our philosophy is to turn all new options ON by default. If you don't like the new behavior you'll figure out how to turn it OFF (see, it worked with you). But if we leave these new settings OFF by default or depend on you going to Customer Default to enable them, then most new things that we add to NX will never get noticed because very few people go around looking for new options to turn ON.

Anyway, the system worked exactly as we designed it to and you reacted exactly the way that we expected that some of our users would, but at least you got to experience the NEW behavior so if you feel that it's not for you, fine, however, in the end it was YOUR decision to disable this, not the guy who sets up your corporate Customer Defaults. After all, we have provided the means which allows your company, if they wished to fo so, preset and then LOCK the users out of changing any or all of the Customer Default settings. It's much harder trying to prevent you from making Preference changes. So the next time that you wish that there was a Customer Default setting to control something, you just might want to think twice before complaining too loud about that because someone just might hear you winky smile

Hi John,

I misspoke. In fact I like this visualisation for my self. I asked this question for one of my customer.

I agree with you about this : "Our philosophy is to turn all new options ON by default". It's the best way to discovered them dazed

I understand the inconvenience to put all settings in customer defaults, but the guy who sets up corporate Customer Defaults and lock them should exist only in big company.

Don't be too sure... Paranoia can be found in small companies as well as larger ones.
