Hi,

when creating a datum point, it doesn't seem possible to use a axis in any way? My intention is to create a datum point on a surface by intersecting the surface with a axis. Seems pretty trivial but how to actually do it.. ?

RE: NX 7.5 - Creation of a datum point on a surface

Hi,
My idea is that Vector defines only a direction (it can move parallely ) and is not fixed position wise so that may be the reason why we cannot have a intersection point with a surface (i may be wrong in my thinking though)

Yes, that's basically correct. If you use an actual 'line' object which intersects the face it should work.

An alternative which might work for you is that you can use the 'Project' function to project a Point ONTO the surface along an 'Axis'.

Hi,

'Project'ing a set of points resulted in what I originally intended, thanks!
