MW Pocket routine
MW Pocket routine
(OP)
I have seen the "Pocket" routine used with the Mold Wizard and it is great.
Is there something in UG that works like that without Mold Wizard.
That would work great for us, but the Mold Wizard would be overkill.
Thanks.

RE: MW Pocket routine
I am not completely aware of the MW pocket but i guess it is wave linking + boolean (add/subtract) in terms of normal modeling practices.
So in essence it would be like taking wave links of the component solids into the part (where the pocket needs to be done) and then doing the Boolean.
Please let me know if there is anything which i am missing from this functionality.

RE: MW Pocket routine
You are correct, it it is just more automated.
Example, two plates screwed together.
Put the screw in place with a false body, start the "Pocket" routine, pick the two plates, then the screw, and the wave linking and boolean subtract are done automatically.
Saveas a lot of time.

RE: MW Pocket routine
You can explore RE-USABLE POCKET (depending on the NX version you are using). It also works on the false ref set just like we do it in case of MOLD ASSEMBLY for putting ejector pins or rest(apart from placing the component it cuts the pocket also.) This must give you exactly what you want.I created a ppt on it sometime back so in case you have any problem exploring it i will share this with you tomorrow.

RE: MW Pocket routine
I found it and tried it. Works great.
I would like to see your ppt to see what I can learn from it.
Thanks for your help.

RE: MW Pocket routine
Here it is.It is a very simple demonstration (i created this in a jiffy when it was first launched in NX7.5).
Since you have already figured it out (how it works) so you may not find it very appealing but still .... I hope this will work ok in your case :) .All the best.
