Does anyone have any tips how to gain better performance of NX8.0 when it comes to meshing big models. NX keeps freezing when I try to mesh a small notch in my model.

RE: NX 8.0 Performance in Advanced Simulation

Hi,

have you done the same test with NX8 and older version with the same part on your PC ?

I assume you mean that the progress bar freezes when creating a mesh? Are you 3D meshing? It might be a good idea to 2D mesh the area first; the 2D meshes do not have to be sent to the solver.

RE: NX 8.0 Performance in Advanced Simulation

Meshing requires some experience.
The largest workable total number of 3D mesh elements depends heavily on your hardware.
You can start preparing your model by removing or ignoring small objects.
If however these small objects are part of your simulation requirements, try to prepare the mesh locally adding nodes beforehand.

I use NX8.5 with Nastran solver on a HP xw8600, 32 bit winXP (old workstation...).
4Gb mem, 2x xeon quadcore. total number of 3D elements appr. 110000-130000.
structural analysis solves in a few minutes.
