bending of bars, mat. 7050T7451 or T63

(OP)
Hallo

we need to bend bars (150x80) 5mt long, mat. 7050T7451 or T63, according to AMS 4108.

Does anybody know max temperature and parameters(holding time..) of the subsequent heat treatment to reduce stresses induced by bending?

Thanks a lot in advance for any information you might supply

RE: bending of bars, mat. 7050T7451 or T63

cri,

Heat treated 7000 series aluminium behaves very much like glass when you overstress it, as I found to my sorrow one day when I tried to move my tent.  The stuff is brittle.  My sheet metal catalogue recommends a bend radius of seven times the sheet thickness for thick pieces (>.065") pieces of aluminium 7075-T6 for example.

If you are going to heat treat the material, you would be better off bending annealed bars (7070-0), then sending them out for heat treatment.
