NASTRAN 1D flutter analysis

NASTRAN 1D flutter analysis

NASTRAN 1D flutter analysis

(OP)
Hello,

I've been trying to validate a flutter analysis tool which uses a Ritz method approach on a straight cantilever 1D beam. To do so I've been trying to run a (torsion+bending) flutter analysis on one dimensional cantilever beams using MSC.NASTRAN. No matter what I do, however, NASTRAN's results reveal no flutter, only torsional divergence (at speeds that agree with theoretical prediction for the given model properties). I haven't found any reports of attempts to perform this sort of analysis for a 1D beam using NASTRAN. Has anyone heard of any, or know wether it is possible or not to perform flutter analysis in NASTRAN with a one-dimensional structural model?

Cheers!
