Boeing Fastener Information

Boeing Fastener Information

(OP)
Good Afternoon,

I have had a bear of a time finding information on the XFJ fastener per Boeing callout. I have made the connection that it is a BACB30HD fastener, but I can not find any information on that fastener. It would be ideal to get some test data on the bolt. My plan b was to calculate a conservative allowable from the dimensions and the material properties, but all I can find on the material is that it is Alloy Steel. Any guidance or information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

RE: Boeing Fastener Information

hi...can you check SRM, under fastener substitution in your manual?

RE: Boeing Fastener Information

I do not think that you will find this data in the SRM.
From what you write it seems like you do not have access to the Boeing service docs (portal)...
If you do, you could search for the BACB30HD standard, and the shear strength would be given.
Alternatively, you could try to get a copy of the "D–590 BOEING TO VENDOR CROSS REFERENCE INDEX" to get an equivalent vendor P/N.
This is a Lockbolt, so you might want to check at Cherry Aerospace...

RE: Boeing Fastener Information

Call Boeing??

RE: Boeing Fastener Information

Per an old reference book [no longer available]...

XFJ = BACB30HD-*-* stump type lock-Bolt, alloy steel, cad plated, flush tension head [MS20426 style] + NAS1080R* swaged collar.

Huck [now ALCOA Aero Fasteners] and Cherry Aerospace are listed as procurement sources: call them!

Regards, Wil Taylor
