Contact between large hole and small bolt

Contact between large hole and small bolt

Contact between large hole and small bolt

(OP)
Hi, I have a model having a large bolt hole, but the connecting bolt has much smaller diameter than the bolt hole.
Frictionless contact is required there, but the two parts don't recongize each other but just pass through.
I've tried pinball, different types of mesh/size, substeps update stiffness updates etc but doesn't work.
Anyone can help me out to figure out?

Thanks!!!

RE: Contact between large hole and small bolt

Have you tried changing the contact condition? Try anti-symmetric.

RE: Contact between large hole and small bolt

Hello,

there are many reasons why nonconvergence happens... (wrong time step, too much gap at the beginning of the simulation, coarse mesh at contact, wrong definition of contact pair etc.).

You should provide a picture or a code (if written in APDL).

Regards
Alex
