Shear in Mortise and Tenon connection

Hello,
I am reviewing an existing old structure, of which most joints are mortise and tenon. Please see attached sketch.
my question is: do you take the shear resistance at the face of the column where the section of the beam is reduce or at d distance from the face of the column. I should note that the joints don't have shoulder. Thanks for the help.

RE: Shear in Mortise and Tenon connection

Not at d away.

RE: Shear in Mortise and Tenon connection

We normally provide a shoulder in the column for the beam to bear on, however, per your attached figure, use the reduced section.
