I'm looking for a coating treatment to lower Friction and Wear on this alu gear. This gear runs with nylon spur gear. Please advice and thanks so much.

I do not normally recommend Anodize on a gear tooth profile. but may be chromic or sulfuric acid anodize or dry film?

if it can be built it can be calculated.

RE: 7075 alumimium gear coating

mfggeareng,

I agree with you that anodized aluminum is not a good solution for gears that have high contact stresses, especially if the mating part is steel. I am guessing that this is a low load, low speed gear based on the mating part being nylon, so perhaps anodizing + dry film lubricant can reduce friction and provide acceptable durability.
