How to Remove Foam from Cooling Water Surface

How to Remove Foam from Cooling Water Surface

(OP)
Did anyone have experience with cooling water that have much foam? I have this problem for several years until now.

We have tried stopping cooling water chemical and use hydrogen peroxide only. Foam was disappears from cooling water. But hydrogen peroxide is bad for wooden-cooling tower structure. Wes stopped using it.

Please share your experiences and what the reasons of this phenomena? It will be very helpful for us.

RE: How to Remove Foam from Cooling Water Surface

The dead organisms can contribute to the foam. When they die, their cell material appears as foam.

Could also be pH, how high do you control your pH? What chemicals do you use in the cooling water? Any consultation with the vendors for your CW chemicals? Im sure they will be eager to recommend solutions for you.

RE: How to Remove Foam from Cooling Water Surface

I think that thread is in error. If there is no free chlorine residue, that means the biocide dosage is not enough and the treatment was ineffective. Therefore the OP there had no problem with foam before (insufficent microbes were killed to create any noticeable foam) . Due to the prolonged effect of insufficient biocide dosage, he likely experienced alot of foam for quite some time after the shock dosage.

I see. Now, I am trying to find answer from other threads in this forum. Thanks for helping me.

Actually, I agree with you that this may happen from dead organism. But, why does hydrogen peroxide make no foaming on CW?
