PM10 and TSP
PM10 and TSP
(OP)
This is with relevance to impacts of a recycling plant.
Is the monitoring of TSP sufficient to gauge the impact that the plant may have on human health?
In Standard Methods of Air Sampling & Analysis, 1991 - when using a high volume sampler to sample TSP, is PM10 included?
Thank you.

RE: PM10 and TSP
TSP means total suspended particles, and PM10 means particle matters less than(in size) ten micrometers (microns),Thus PM10 is a fraction of TSP.
The reason for importance of PM10 is :only particles less than 10 microns can pass through the "nose" (as a filteration mechanism in body) and reach to the lungs. From point of health,PM10 is important, because particles greater than 10 microns,is removed by nose.
