Bases with Moments
Bases with Moments
(OP)
Hi, Guys
I just want to confirm something. If a Base has a moment on it from a steel post and the post is imbedded into the concrete that would make it fixed, now is it a must to have steel (re-bar) in the concrete base because of the moment or is it right to make the base a certain depth for example 500 deep for a 1m x 1m base. Using the 45 degree pressure line.

The moment capacity depends on the concrete bearing. The additional welded reinforcement will increase the capacity. See attached PDF file.
