I have heard the term bandied about but never particularly seriously, but it is suggested that the phenomenon can occur in large boilers used to drive steam turbines, I am somewhat dubious as searches for the phenomenon on line refer to anything from physiology of alveolae to qhantum mechanics to vacuum in space not forgetting crystaline structures.
Can anybody debunk it or explain in power station operator terms ( yes THAT simple I am afraid)what the heck it is.
