ASME B31.8 for wellsite piping

ASME B31.8 for wellsite piping

ASME B31.8 for wellsite piping

(OP)
I've read thread 292-69658 and in that thread some members of this forum mentioned that they've used ASME B31.8. I went back and read again ASME B31.8 - 2010. According to 802.1(b)(6) flow lines between wellhead and/or separator traps are outside scope of this standard. This is also shown on Fig Q-2.

Why use a Standard that specifically says that "does not apply"?

Why not use ASME B31.3?

Thanks,

RE: ASME B31.8 for wellsite piping

When there is no jurisdictionally defined Code, some engineers/owners simply will require one and for gas gathering systems may invoke B31.8. I have seen B31.8, B31.4 and B31.3 specified.
