Three phase transformer

Three phase transformer

Guys,
I have a question if we connect 3 single 100 KVA transformer in a three phase configuration what will be the total power that can be use from the transformer 3*100KVA =300KVA or 1.73*100KVA=173KVA.

RE: Three phase transformer

It'ds obvious you don't understand the formulas you're working with. Should post this to the T&D forum.

How do you plan to connect them? This will help me answer your question.

to Magoo2 I understand perfectly. The point of my question is not for u to tell I don't understand is to know what the maximum power I can get from 3* 100KVA transformer connected in phase.

RE: Three phase transformer

If they are connected in a symmetrical wye or delta arrangement, then you simply add up the kVA ratings.

However, you can connect 2 of the transformers in an open delta arrangement. Them you won't get the sum of the kVAs as a result for those two and it doesn't matter what you do with the third.

I don't know when the 1.73 * kVA applies.

to magoo2 thanks for clearing that up ............you're right I did under stand the concept clearly.
