inlet and out let area

inlet and out let area

(OP)
Hi,

How can we determine the area of openning size at inlet and outlet of aluminum chamber.
the inside of the chamber there are fins for decipating 300w heats. No forced air, using just natural convection.

I think the inlet openning should be smaller than the out let openning size. In;et should be at the bottom of the chamber because cooler air weighs less & out let should be located at top.

I tried to make use of the below chart and determine the area of opennings

Can some one help me detrmine this.

Thanks
NT

RE: inlet and out let area

I'm sorry you have not provided enough information about your system for me to be able to help. Although I've seen other people on here use do this, I personally won't click on words labeled "link" as I have no idea what I'm linking to. I prefer to see the actual URL of the site. Finally, since you describe yourself as a new techie, have you asked the engineers in your company for help with the design?

RE: inlet and out let area

There are two ways of dealing with such links: you can hover over the link, and the link's URL should show up on the status line of your browser; you can right mouse a "Copy link address" and paste the link into another browser tab or into Wordpad to see what the link actually is.

As to the OP, you need to provide the concept of operations: is this even a forced convection or a natural convection problem. Your link is only for correcting the standard volume of air at different temperatures and is useless for making any judgement about your specific problem.
